Beyond the Lilacs:Conservatory Tour on Saturday January 28th
-
Our series of Family Friendly Guided Tours of Highland Park co-sponsored by the Highland Park Neighborhood Association and the Highland Park Conservancy resume Saturday, January 28, 2012 with our newest tradition: A special guided through the Lamberton Conservatory.
Amy Priestley leads this series of tours. Amy attended graduate school at Oregon State University’s College of Forest Science and her love of all that grows has extended to her business Labor of Love Garden Design & Landscape Artistry. (If you have had the pleasure to take one of her tours you know they are also a labor of love.)
For more background on Lamberton Conservatory, click on the picture below from an extensive, illustrated article that was recently published on our Virtual Scrapbook site. That page also includes an album of photos highlighting the state of our “Glass House” on the occasion of its 100th birthday in November, 2011…as well a set of other references

The Seasonal Display on the Conservatory's 100th Birthday. Click here for an album of photos taken on that day.
This is the latest in a yearlong series of tours that feature themes and aspects of Highland Park tied to seasonal changes and the variety of the collections. The tours are generally introductory but repeat attendees will find new content on each guided walk in the series.
Tours are generally free. However the conservatory does charge a small fee for non-members ($3.00) . Attendees should meet at the Log Bench outside Lamberton Conservatory at 171 Reservoir Avenue at 1 pm on the day of the tour. Wear Comfortable Walking Shoes and, for outdoor tours, Clothing Appropriate for the Season.
Children are, of course, welcome. Our tours, just like our neighborhood, are always appropriate the entire family!
Coming February 18, 2012 - Our Series within a Series that has been covering The Four Seasons of the Historic Highland Park Pinetum will conclude with “The Pinetum in Winter”. If winter has returned, come bundled up . We will supply Hot Chocolate and Mulled Cider for all who join us.
PS – Another Recent addition to our Virtual Scrapbook site is an album of photos from our seven “Beyond the Lilacs” tour that took place in 2011. Were you with us ? Below is a group shot from the November tour entitled “The Pinetum in Autumn”
