Mar 24: Walk with Pac-Tac or Mar 27:Take a Guided Tour of the Park

Next Week Gives You Two Chances to Walk the Neighborhood and Park with your fellow residents.

First up on March 24 is our monthly PAC-TAC walk with Security Coordinator Paul Urai and an Officer from the RPD. We meet at the NSC (Net) office on S. Clinton Ave. (The next few dates after that are also the fourth Wednesday of the Month : 4/28/10, 5/26/10). Paul will also keep you up to-date with any security related information that he has received. And the PAC-TAC walk also always features a pizza break sponsored by the Neighborhood Association. So Come out for the Springtime or Come for the exercise or Come for the pizza, and Help make our neighborhood a safer place. PAC-TAC is proven to do just that.

Saturday March 27, 2009 is our next Family Friendly Holiday Tour of the Trees in Highland Park. (Please note that this was rescheduled from March 20 ) Celebrate Spring with our next tour that starts at 1 PM at Lamberton Conservatory in Highland Park. When you see the sign to the right, join the group. Every season and month brings special sites to our botanical treasure. Why not enjoy learning about the Park with our neighbor and tour guide, Amy Priestley?

Last Week’s PAC-TAC Walk Rescheduled for Wed Feb 3rd

Because of the weather and a meeting on Security (See this page) , the PAC-TAC walk with Pizza scheduled last week was moved to Wednesday Feb 3 from 6:30 to 8:30. We meet at the NSC (Net) office on S. Clinton Ave. The next few dates after that are the fourth Wednesday of the Month:

Happy New Year Neighbors,

Hope you all had a great holiday season. With 2010 upon us it gives us a chance to look back at 2009. I’d like to thank all of you that walked PAC TAC either on your own or with us for one of our HPNA group walks. My goal for 2010 is to gather a pool of HPNA PAC TACers that could saturate an area if we were seeing a crime pattern. Four or five nights of us walking might be enough to drive the criminals off to a less attentive neighborhood.

We also had a very successful safety and security meeting in September. We identified some key issues in the neighborhood, including speeding concerns, the need for more crosswalks and safety concerns around Ellwanger Barry Park. We have since formed a traffic safety committee and several of us have been trained on the speed watch program. We have met with and are continuing to meet with city and NSC office officials regarding these matters.

Our Park Ave walk was a success. The monthly walks start back up on Thursday January 28th from 6:30 to 8:30. (Because of the General Meeting on Wednesday the 27th, we are moving the first Pac-Tac walk to the following Thursday) We meet at the NSC (Net) office on S. Clinton Ave. The next few dates after that are the fourth Wednesday of the Month:

12/3 Christmas Tree Lighting Pac Tac walk on Park Ave.

Thursday Dec 3rd we will be Pac-Tac-ing on Park Ave. from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.

We will meet at the NSC(NET) office at 846 S Clinton Avenue. This is a fun event. The last time we walked it there were roasted chestnuts, several tastings , horse drawn wagon rides up and down the Ave. and people making ice sculptures with chainsaws. This is all part of

Last Pac-Tac Walk and Pizza of 2009 – Oct 28

The Last Neighborhood Pac-Tac walk of the Year is October 28.

We meet at 630pm at the NSC Southeast Quadrant Office at 846 S. Clinton Ave. (Formerly Known as the NET Office)

The walk includes a free Pizza Break sponsored by the Highland Park Neighborhood Association.

We’d love to have you join us but, in any case, thanks go out to all of you who have walked already this year.

Look to our Blog and Blast for information as to when the Pac-Tac and Pizza walks resume in 2010.

Tonight’s the Night to Talk Safety and Security

The next neighborhood meeting will take place at the Monroe County Parks Department – 171 Reservoir Ave in Highland Park at 7pm tonight September 22, 2009. We will have a representative from City Hall to talk with us about our traffic concerns and to go over the process to get speed bumps , “Slow! Children” signs, Stop signs etc. The Rochester Police Department will do a safety presentation. There also will be a representative from a local alarm company to talk about residential burglar alarms. Hope to see you there…

And Tomorrow Night September 23, 2009 is our next community Pac-Tac walk. Everyone is invited and there is always Free Pizza (from one of the best pizzerias in Rochester) for all walkers. We meet at 630pm at the 846 S. Clinton Ave at the NSC (former NET) office. Thanks to all of you who have walked already this year.

On September 22, 2009, the Highland Park Neighborhood Association will have our next general meeting. The theme will be Security and Safety. The meeting will take place at the Monroe County Parks Department – 171 Reservoir Ave in Highland Park at 7pm. Join the Pac-Tac walk through the neighborhood and we’ll provide the Pizza. The next walk is scheduled for Wednesday July 22nd at 6:30 PM starting at the Southeast Neighborhood Service Center at 846 S. Clinton Ave (the Former NET Office). Join Neighborhood Security Coordinator Paul Urai, members of the Rochester Police Dept and your fellow neighbors on this walk. You need NO special training or equipment to participate. And as part of the walk, the Highland Park Neighborhood Association is pleased to sponsor a pizza break. If you can’t make it that week, these walks continue almost every month of the year on the fourth Wednesday.
